I've been trying all day to get this vlog done but it was so hard! So much for my bragging about how vlogging was simple and quick.
Now here's this week's vlog!
As if that's not enough fun for you, there's a bonus video on my youtube channel. I won't tell you what it's about, only that it concerns a certain fetish of mine and a lot of funfetti sprinkles.
Here's the link.

Jai, just like the Mahabharat post, you are getting us addicted to your vlogs.
Btw..its great that we can see your dress this time...else it makes us go hmmm...... Just joking.
Hugs
Rachna
you continue to amaze, jai :)
your new friend does, too!
Rachna, I made it a point to have my top visible! Didn't want anymore misunderstndings.
Jai
Laughingwolf, I hope it's all in a good way.
Jai
indeed it is, jai!
Jai,
You got to do what every writer longs to do, physical research in another land. My question to you is (if you don't mind) how did you manage to afford to spend three months researching in India?
I don't know about India, but in most countries museums and palaces, and travel from city to city can be very expensive. Did you have a grant or sponsorship? Or had you saved enough? Did you write off your expenses in your taxes? Inquiring minds would love to know :)
Either way, you were very blessed!
Elizabeth, India is a very easy country to travel around, moneywise. Museums, public transport, and accomodation are all very reasonable, even dirt cheap. Also, my family is blessed to have resources and I'm blessed to have their support.
I've always been the kind of person who's willing to go for the cheaper option. I don't need an air-conditioned train carriage if the normal carriage is half the price. Similarly, I'd rather sleep in a hostel than five star hotel if it means less money and a more social experience. A bit of money can go very far with that approach. It's about having the right attitude to travel, being flexible with an adventurous spirit.
Jai
It sounds like an amazing experience, traveling to India and researching your story!
I love watching these vlogs. :)
Golden Eagle, it really was. I was constantly having to pinch myself to believe that I was really there.
Jai
Awesome answer Jai. I think too many of us (ok moi!) want the ease of comfort when traveling. Forgoing those expensive comforts would indeed save a lot of money. But I'll be honest, I doubt at my age I could be as adventurous as I was in my youth :)
What an amazing journey. You are so lucky!
Loved following you on your journey to India to discover Meera, Jai. I have never been to NW India, but I look forward to doing just that one day.
Oh, btw, I see that you have taken care to control your overwhelming hair this time ;-).
Elizabeth, it's true that many people expect all the luxuries of home when they're traveling. If they have the money for it then that's fine but if there isn't a great deal of money then it's unrealistic to expect it or even want it. Besides, for me there's no point in traveling if it's going to be just as comfortable as home. The point for me is to learn and experience and live, not be cocooned in luxury.
Jai
Tara, I was really lucky. It was an incredible experience.
Jai
Hema, I debated whether I should record while swathed from head to toe in a blanket. But it was hot and the dress won out and I did make sure that it was clearly visible!
Jai
lol, I laughed at your comment to Rachna. Handy tip for vlogging ;)
That's so cool that your family will follow you around to keep you safe. My mum would probably just pat me on the shoulder and say, "don't get shot, dear, and bring me home a souvenir."
Three months!? Wow, that's a lot of research.
Lynda, it's definitely something to keep in mind.
Jai
Clarrisa, yes, that's the thing about Indian families. They stick together like glue. I complain but it's heartwarming really.
Jai
That is so cool that you could do first hand research! Wow. And you had company (chaperones?) too, to boot!
Lydia, chaperones are very important in Indian families! But I love all of mine so it's hard to be annoyed with them following me around all the time.
Jai
Indian boys tend to get things a bit easier.
Al, yes, they get things much easier.
Jai
Yay! I love your v-logs, Jai. Thanks!
Oh, a'right, you're dressed this time! :-) Just joking!
Jesting aside, your vlogs are amazing. You know the comment you left on my blog the other day about the need for arts and humanities in today's world? Well, your blog pretty much reflects that need. The language you use in your posts is very discriminatory, in the broadest and most positive sense of the word. You know when to use colloquial English and when to up the ante a bit as in your Mahabharat posts. I just read the one entitled 'Mercy' and walked away much richer and more emotionally contented. Not just because of the story, but also because of the way you tell it.
Many thanks for your vlogs. It's great to become acquainted with your creative process.
Greetings from London.
Good to know you enjoy them, Talli, thanks for your support.
Jai
Cuban, you've got me all flushed with delight. Thank you so much for your appreciation. You gave me a massive boost to get through the rest of the week.
Jai
Wow Jai, you put A Lot into this book! (As if I need to state the obvious) ;)
I've not yet gone to the bonus video, but I would bet all I (don't) have to bet it's about CAKE! :) Let's see...
Jai..there are two awards for you on my blog.
That's a great tale!
Also, I want a cupcake like that! That way it'd be just the right amount. Heck, I'd even opt for a plain vanilla 1 w/out sprinkles!
Loved this vlog!
Hi Jai,
My goodness, that was very detailed and yes, detail, getting it right, is most important.
Anyway, my friend, you could do a vlog on the thrills of 'Kwik Fit' fixing your exhaust system :) I don't care, because I just think you have a very nice voice and accent. Now y'all make sure 'y'all keep that accent! :)
In peace and kind wishes, your way, shy and humble Gary :)
This is the first of your vlogs I've seen. Some of the comments make me feel I should go an look at the others! Just joking, honest! :D
Excellent story about how much research you did for your book - and how the research filled in the detail, without changing the story you had written.
Instructive.
you ok, jai?
Deanna, how did you know?
Jai
Rachna, thank you! I'm delighted to be the recipient of those awards.
Jai
Lisa, that cupcake was epic. I didn't know how it was ever going to end but sure enough, I found a way.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
Jai
Theresa, thank you!
Jai
Klahanie, I'll try! I go back to England every few years and that helps to sharpen up the accent...
Jai
Kevin, don't listen to anything these people say! It's lies, all lies...
Jai
Laughingwolf, I'm exhausted but I'm ok. Recovering from a certain something. Things will be back to normal hopefully very soon.
Jai
Jai! Sorry I missed this. Wow, you have a real presence in front of the camera. I am impressed!!
Thanks, Diane!
I'm horribly behind on my blogging, haven't posted anything this past week and haven't had a chance to visit anyones blogs either. It's awful.
Jai
good to know... time to rest up over the holiday weekend :)
I don't know if anyone can call what I've done all week as resting but thanks!
Jai
