Building Literacy

Deanna Shrayer of the Life of a Working Writer Mommy has been gracious enough to gift me with her very own Literacy Builder Award! I'm honoured!

Here it is:

To be included in the company of the wonderful people she selected for the award is another honour. I'm thrilled she thought of me!

Now, here are the rules:

1.Thank and link back to the person who gave you this award.
2.Display the award logo on your blog site.
3.Tell us five of your favorite words and why you like them, (add as many as you like).
4.Pass the award on to three bloggers you feel are excellent literacy builders, and link to their sites – Yes, only three!
5.Contact the bloggers you’ve chosen and let them know about the award.

Five of my favourite words... Hmmm... Five...

1. Crooked. Because I like how it sounds.
2. Righteous. Reminds me of a 60s hippie and I'm all for flower power.
3. Sweet. Because I have an obsessive compulsive disorder when it comes to dessert. And cake.
4. Faith. Sooner or later we all have to surrender to it, whether it's faith in our family, our friends, our own self, our society, our destiny, our God.
5. Connection. We are all connected. Somehow and someway. Take this literacy award, for example. I'm going to pass this award on to these bloggers (and don't think this wasn't hard):

Linda at leftbrainwrite.

Hema at Wading through Words.

Jaleh at Ex Libris Draconis.

Check out these wonderful writers and soak up their words!

As for me, For the rest of the day I'm going to bask in the thought that I'm a literacy builder. Wow. With our words we can touch the world around us and make it a better place. That's incredible.

Oh, thank you, Jai!! It means a lot to me that you chose to pass this award to my blog... I love the "connection" we all share via words. And, believe me, I'm already hyperventilating about how I'm going to choose just five words :-).

Just dropped by to say 'hi' and wow! Thank YOU! And CONGRATS! What an honor! I am so into literacy, so this award means a lot. Deanna made a gorgeous award - no? Love your words, too -- especially righteous.

Your words reflect you quite nicely. Peace...

Jackee, it's funny because I thought it was going to be really hard to come up with just five but actually they all popped into my head within three minutes and I was done.

Deanna, I once had a conversation with a reader at one of my book signings about the word righteous. We'd keep finding ways to insert it into the conversation because we liked it so much.

Hema, I was wondering how I was going to choose just five but it turned out to be relatively easy in the end. Just close your eyes and whatever words come into your head are the ones.

Linda, it was the same for me. I was just pottering around, checking out my friends blogs when WHAM! Deanna hit me with this gorgeous award. I love it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what your words are.
